1 - Volunteering for the CUSU Shadowing Scheme: it's amazing fun and you can really make a difference - if you didn't get the opportunity to be involved in the Fitz scheme, now's your chance. Go to the Target & Access page to find out more.
2 - Becoming a CAMbassador - CAMbassadors work on a range of events run by the wider university including open days and summer schools. It's a great opportunity to earn some money, meet new people and make a difference, especially if you enjoy working with young people. Here's a message from them:
The Cambridge Admissions Office is recruiting Undergraduate students as ‘CAMbassadors’ to work on a range of access and recruitment events for prospective students, including taster days, open days, conferences and summer schools. CAMbassadors are Undergraduate students in their second year or above who play a valuable role on our events during term time and the vacation, helping to promote the University to a diverse audience. CAMbassadors are paid for their work and receive training, so it’s a great chance to earn money and develop new skills by sharing your enthusiasm for your subject, talking to prospective applicants about student life and providing a warm welcome to our visitors.
Check out our webpage to find out more and apply.
Undergraduates in their second year or above can apply in this application round to be a CAMbassador NOW. This application round will close on Sunday 1 November and we will invite successful applicants to a short interview/selection event in mid-November. First-year students interested in the scheme can register their interest and will be notified when our next application round opens).
If you have any questions about either of the opportunities then do drop me an email/FB message/contact form/grab me in person for a chat (I can often be found in the cafe looking for ways to procrastinate) - I've been involved with both schemes over the past year so I can give you a good idea of what they involve and how much fun they are!
