Apologies in advance to the majority of you lovely people for this Grinch-like post. However, for the vast minority:
The catering department has become increasingly concerned with the behaviour of several students at recent formal halls. It has highlighted examples of 'unacceptable behaviour' including students who have been 'playing drinking games' and 'eating without cutlery' which have led to staff having to 'police the hall'. The JCR has been informed that there will be no further warnings for people who continue to behave in this way, and any individuals doing so will be immediately ejected from the formal they are attending. I've also been told that the Dean and Domestic Bursar will be available throughout both days of Fitzmas - on Monday and Tuesday respectively - to immediately deal with anyone who is removed.
After going through the stress of trying to secure a Fitzmas ticket in the first place, we obviously don't want anyone to be ejected from hall, so please abide by these rules! Moreover, as you might have seen in the minutes for the Food and Beverage Working Group that was circulated on Friday, the JCR is trying to increase the capacity of superhalls from 150 to 180 (it was originally the latter before poor behaviour resulted in capacity being limited). However, the Catering Manager has made it clear that this will not occur should poor behaviour continue.
Please also be aware that any ticket swaps that have occurred without Damiano being informed will not be valid should the catering staff check names against the guest list on the night.
On a much lighter note, if there is anyone who did not manage to secure a Fitzmas ticket but would like to go on the Monday, please let me know by the end of the day.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT STREET LIGHTING - STOREY'S WAY & COLLEGE HOUSES AFFECTED - PLEASE FILL OUT THE COUNCIL'S SURVEY!
As you may be aware the County Council are proposing from April 2016 to:
· Dim all street lighting from 12.00am to 6.00 am;
· Turn off street lighting on streets which are not main traffic routes or have CCTV cameras.
The Council argue that these proposal are required to meet the tough cost saving targets and will have an environmental benefit. The savings are about £60,000 pa.
The proposals are opposed by the City Council and the police. It is felt that this could have an impact of safety and the perception of safety. The police have pointed out the high cost of responding to an increase in the number of incidents.
The County Council have started their on-line consultation and this will be open until 11 December. The consultation may be found here where you can also see details of the proposed 'switch -off areas' which include Storey's Way and all of the streets to the north of the Huntingdon Road where our houses are located.
The questionnaire is designed to be completed by individuals. I would urge you to take a few moments to complete it; the more people do so the better able the City Council will be to represent our interests.
Come to the College Carol Service on Sunday this weekend, 29 November in Chapel at 6pm. Come early! Mince pies and mulled wine in the Crypt to follow. Everyone in college is welcome.
Hustings for JCR sub-committee positions will be taking place tonight at 19:30 in the JCR - see the timetable on the Elections page. With many of the positions contested it's bound to be a thrilling event, so do come along to support your friends and to support democracy in action. Also, there are still a couple of positions with no candidates: Ents Officers (x3), International Officer & Disabilities Officer. If you'd like to run for one of these, then let Zoe know (firstname.lastname@example.org) and you can be added to the end of the timetable.
So don't put the pathetic into apathetic - come along, get involved, and remember that the future of Fitz is in your hands.
