Well that's it! The ballot is now finally over... Now that all undergrads have been allocated rooms and chosen their contracts, please could EVERYONE check their room and contract length. If there are any errors, or you would like to change your contract length, please let me know as soon as possible (firstname.lastname@example.org).
NOTE: ROOM LENGTH CONTRACTS
It will be a good idea is to ask your Faculty/DoS about when most of your deadlines will be. This will give you some indication as to whether you desperately need to stay up during Easter, etc, and whether you should change to a different contract.
If you decided to pick one contract and then wish to stay outside of the contract you will be able to make a request for out of term accommodation (ROTA). This will mean that college will endeavour to find a room for you but will NOT guarantee your term-time room. Essentially, the contract you have chosen should represent how long you want to stay in your specific room.
Any changes to the room contract must be made by 4PM ON WEDNESDAY 9TH MARCH. Note that once they have been printed, they are the contracts which you are expected to sign.
Signing of Contracts must occur by SATURDAY 19TH MARCH in order to secure your room. If, for exceptional circumstances, you cannot make this deadline, please email the Accommodation Officer Diane Pickles –email@example.com– making sure that you explain your circumstances.
It seems like it's too far away now. but we're already thinking about freshers week! This year we're going to have a freshers committee rather than just ents to make the week run more smoothly and be filled to the brim with exciting events. We're looking for a wide range of ideas (for drinking as well as non-drinking activities) that can appeal to many different people as well as enthusiasm and initiative.
If you're interested just send us a few lines (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any ideas you might have, why you want to take part and why you'd be suited for this position (no past experience is required!)- by MIDDAY THURSDAY 10TH MARCH.
Look forward to hearing from you!
As you are all aware, the ballot was drawn last night live in the bar and this was also broadcast onto YouTube. The ballot lists are available on the housing ballot page.
If now you know that you cannot make it to your session, please send an email to email@example.com with the name and CRSid of your proxy. Please make sure you know your proxy is reliable, will act in your best interests and knows the following information:
i) How much you can afford to pay?
ii) Who you would accept being pulled up to live with?
iii) Who you would pull where possible?
iv) Are your priorities living with friends, having a shower, having a larger room etc.
Please make sure you attend your session at the time stated on the sheets. If you (or your proxy) do not turn up for the allocated slots, you will only be permitted to choose after the ballot has finished. (If you have been pulled up by a friend before your slot, you do not need to attend your appointment.)
(1) The ballot meetings will take place in the Fitz café/bar.
(2) Anyone who is to be pulled up should come to the café at the same time as the person doing the pulling up. If you have already been pulled up by the time of your slot, you do not need to attend your meeting.
We're getting extremely close to the big day(s) now, so just a few more bits of important information you might want to consider whilst choosing your preferences.
(1) BALLOT DRAW DETAILS
The ballot is being drawn at 8pm tomorrow evening (Wednesday 2nd March) in the bar. This will be available via livestream here. Along with this will be an updated written version (on the same link).
(2) CORRIDOR DETAILS
After inspection of College's wacky architecture, we've noticed that the corridor plans previously given out do not reflect the true nature of corridors and have therefore made some updates to the corridor scheme. The definition of a corridor we have used is: "a group of rooms that share a kitchen and that are separated by a physical barrier (eg flight of stairs/fire door/walls)". These will be the corridors we use for the pulling up system. The details can be found on the housing ballot page
(3) ROOM PRICE LIST
Governing Body has now approved the rents for the 2016/17 academic year. These can also be found on the housing ballot page.
