Hey Fitz, I'm Sophie, a second year Psychological and Behavioural scientist and I'm your Gym Officer for 2016 alongside Alexi. Our main aim as your Gym Officers is to make the gym the best and most inclusive space possible for all members of the Fitz family, whether you've had loads of experience at a gym or if it's your first time stepping into one. We want to be able to encourage you to meet your fitness goals, especially as there is a link between physical and mental wellbeing. We want you to remember to stay happy and healthy while you're studying so we plan to run a variety of classes and events in the gym, as well as offering advice about diet and exercise. We are so fortunate to have such a great resource and we are dedicated to shaping the development of the gym over this year. Easter Term Classes
All these classes are open to everyone, but we need to know the level of demand for them so if you're interested and want to come along to any of them, it is REALLY IMPORTANT that you email Sophie and Alexi at email@example.com with your name and which class(es) you are going to come along to. For each class we will take a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 10 so email ASAP in case the group is full.
1. INTRODUCTION TO WEIGHT-LIFTING with Sophie - Wednesday 27th April 4:30pm-5:30pm.
Sophie will be going through the basics of working out using different weighted equipment, and will go through specific exercises to target different muscle groups. Come with any questions!
2. GYM REFRESHER SESSION with Sophie - Wednesday 27th April 5:30pm-6:30pm.
Need a quick reminder of the gym? Been a while since your induction? Sophie will be going through the equipment we have and show people how to use them to train different muscles, as well as going over basic routines and workouts that may be of use to you - she will answer all questions regarding specifics and look at your technique when doing exercises.
3. GYM REFRESHER SESSION with Alexi - Friday 29th April 3:30pm-4:30pm.
Exactly the same as above but I will be running the session instead, to offer two time slots for people who may not be able to make one.
4. CIRCUITS with Sophie - Wednesdays 5:00pm-6:00pm starting Wednesday 4th May.
A mix of cardio and weight circuit training for an hour where attendees will circulate around the different machines/exercises spending a few minutes at each station. A great all-round work out. Bring water and a willingness to get sweaty!
5. CORE SESSION with Alexi - Fridays 4:30pm-5:30pm starting Friday 29th April.
Absolutely smash your abs and back with this session so you won't be able to laugh for days- come along and I'll have everyone working really hard before it finishes and you can reward yourself with some sloppy Friday Buttery fish.
